Version 1.0

YAZS Weapons Tier List: Compare Every 1.0 Path

There is no official universal weapon ranking. Use these practical bands to match each weapon path to a job: carry damage, range, control, support, or Boss coverage. Version 1.0 changed range-sensitive output, critical handling, and several individual weapons, so old numbers are not copied as current facts.

Weapon Facts for Version 1.0

System facts come from the official game and 1.0 release notes. Weapon paths and role descriptions are organized from current community weapon coverage.

Practical Tier Bands

These are use-case bands, not an official S/A/B power ranking. A lower band can be the correct choice when it completes your team's trigger, range, or control chain.

Carry candidates

Broad direct damage

Assault Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Laser, Crossbow, Minigun. These are strong starting candidates when the squad needs a weapon that can carry normal waves or keep working against a Boss. Minigun needs a close-to-mid range plan; Rocket Launcher is the safer all-range alternative.

Conditional carries

High value with the right setup

Sniper Rifle, Tesla, Multishot Bow, Explosive Arrows, Freezing Arrows, Windcutter, Flamethrower. Their practical value depends on range, projectile behavior, control, damage tags, or the support nodes available on the current save.

Specialist tools

Utility, control, or chain pieces

Pistol, Taser, Shotgun, Katana branches, Syringe Gun and Flask branches, Fireaxe, Blowtorch, Trust Spanner, and Lancer. These early or specialist paths can be excellent when they solve the run's bottleneck or activate a larger team plan.

All 9 Weapon Paths

Weapon names and role descriptions below are a compact 1.0 community role map. Final branches can require Survivor ranks or nodes; follow the current upgrade card.

Survivor Weapon path Role and range Best comparison
SWAT Pistol SMG Assault Rifle / Sniper Rifle Kinetic lane coverage, automatic fire, and piercing Boss pressure. Assault Rifle is the broad carry candidate; Sniper Rifle shifts toward longer-range piercing.
Tank Shotgun Pump-Action Shotgun Minigun / Rocket Launcher Close-to-mid range pressure, heavy firepower, and explosive coverage. Minigun rewards holding distance; Rocket Launcher is more forgiving when targets stay farther away.
Engineer Taser Tesla Blaster / Laser Electric damage, deployable control, shields, and ability-driven squads. Tesla supports Electric plans; Laser is the more direct focused ranged branch.
Huntress Bow Multishot Bow Explosive / Freezing Arrows Ranged critical pressure, volleys, area damage, and Freeze control. Explosive Arrows cover groups; Freezing Arrows trade some direct pressure for control.
Ghost Katana Katana Splash Thousand Cuts / Windcutter Close Slashing pressure with a choice between nearby defense and longer reach. Thousand Cuts protects close space; Windcutter gives a more distant option.
Medic Pistol Syringe Gun Antidote / Freezing Flasks Healing, Chemical damage, regeneration, life steal, and Freeze support. Use Medic weapons to keep a fragile team active; add direct damage if survival is already solved.
Pyro Fireaxe Blowtorch Flamethrower / Infernax Fire and Slashing damage, burning zones, explosions, and low-health scaling. Flamethrower favors area pressure; Infernax is a branch choice that should be checked against the current chain.
Mechanic Trust Spanner Lancer Chainsaw / Nitro-Gun / Spanner Spammer Mixed melee and ranged tools, Ice control, deployables, and ability support. Choose the branch that complements the team's range rather than adding a second disconnected distance.
Ranger Crossbow Repeater Crossbow follow the current final branch Marks, Kinetic critical support, animal companions, crowd control, and team utility. Ranger's value grows when another weapon can convert marks and team Critical/Luck support into damage.

Choose by Weapon Job

Direct carry

Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Laser, Bow branches, Crossbow. Use when the squad needs damage that continues between ability activations.

Area and crowd control

Rocket Launcher, Tesla, Explosive Arrows, Freezing Arrows, Flamethrower, Katana Splash, and companion-linked coverage. Use when waves, not Bosses, are closing the escape route.

Long-range pressure

Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Laser, Windcutter, Crossbow. Use when the map or Boss punishes a close-range plan, but keep a contact-control answer for fast enemies.

Close-range pressure

Shotgun, Minigun, Katana branches, Fireaxe, Chainsaw. Use when movement, armor, Freeze, taunt, or healing lets the squad hold the distance safely.

Status and tag support

Tesla, Freezing Arrows, Flasks, Flamethrower, Crossbow marks. Use when another weapon or ability is ready to turn the status into a real payoff.

Boss answer

Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Laser, Rocket Launcher, Crossbow, or a suitable critical branch. Always keep one path that can damage a large moving target after the horde is under control.

Weapon Upgrade Order

Community weapon guidance recommends treating a branch as a behavior choice, not an automatic damage upgrade.

  1. Stabilize one carry weapon. Upgrade the Leader's path until normal waves are manageable before spreading early levels across every weapon.
  2. Add one bridge tool. Choose a shield, Freeze, taunt, healing, turret, trap, or area effect if contact is the first problem.
  3. Match the branch to the range. Ask whether the final branch improves the distance where the squad can actually stand and attack.
  4. Match the damage tag to the team. Electric, Fire, Ice, Chemical, Explosive, Piercing, Slashing, and Kinetic bonuses are useful when another active tool converts them.
  5. Build the Boss path before the late phase. A clear-screen weapon is not automatically a single-target weapon. Confirm that one branch continues to work when the Boss moves.
  6. Use the current card. Weapon paths, final branch names, and node requirements can differ by unlock progress. Do not fill missing values from an old screenshot.

1.0 Weapon Changes to Remember

These official changes are why pre-1.0 weapon rankings need caution.

Change Official 1.0 note Practical reading
Penetration Most weapon attacks no longer lose damage on penetration. Piercing branches may behave differently from older guides; compare the current card and range.
Critical rolls Burst and multi-projectile attacks roll Critical chance once for the group or projectile set. Do not use an old per-projectile critical calculation to predict current output.
Boss health Boss enemy base HP increased by one quarter. A weapon that was enough for an older Boss timing may need a stronger direct path now.
Tank Sawblade Drone final damage changed from 200 to 150. Do not treat old Sawblade Drone numbers as a current Boss guarantee.
Engineer Early-rank Electrocution damage changed from 75 to 25; final damage unchanged. Electric control can still be useful, but early-rank expectations need a current-client check.
Huntress Tier 2 and Tier 3 weapon firing arc changed from 30 to 20. Volley coverage and positioning should be judged from the current weapon behavior.
Ghost Windcutter travel distance increased slightly; Kunai Dance and Shuriken final values changed. Ghost branch comparisons from Early Access may not preserve their old ordering.

Diagnose the Wrong Weapon

Change one major variable at a time so the failure tells you whether the problem is damage, range, control, or the squad.

Waves reach you early

Likely issue: the Leader's starter path is too slow for the intended distance. Finish the first weapon branch or change the Leader.

Great wave clear, weak Boss

Likely issue: the loadout is area-only. Add a direct weapon, critical path, piercing branch, or a weapon that stays active while the Boss moves.

Close weapon feels unsafe

Likely issue: the squad lacks movement, armor, Freeze, taunt, shield, or healing to hold its intended distance.

Long-range weapon loses pressure

Likely issue: fast enemies are reaching the team or the control effect is moving targets out of the weapon's useful range. Add a close-control bridge.

Status appears but does not matter

Likely issue: no other active tool converts the tag. Stop stacking the status and add the weapon, ability, or synergy that uses it.

Final branch is locked

Likely issue: the Survivor rank or node is not developed. Follow the current tree; do not assume a community branch exists on a fresh save.

What This Tier List Does Not Claim

Role bands are safer than invented precision

  • No official S/A/B list exists. The bands here describe practical jobs and conditional carry potential, not a developer ranking.
  • No hands-on DPS test is included. Exact damage, cooldown, projectile count, range, drop rate, clear time, and win rate are not presented as current measured facts.
  • Community weapon paths can be stale. The accessible role map is useful for names and roles, but final branches and node requirements should be checked in the current client.
  • Weapon value is team-dependent. A control or support branch may be better than a direct carry when it completes the squad's synergy chain.
  • Boss and map context matters. A weapon that clears one arena at one distance may need a different branch in a hazardous map or Boss Rush.

A weapon choice becomes meaningful only after the roster, team roles, synergies, and mode are clear.

Sources and Evidence Boundary

Official 1.0 combat changes are separated from community weapon paths and role bands.

Weapons FAQ

Is there an official YAZS weapon tier list?
No official universal weapon tier list is used here. Community sources provide role bands and recommendations, but the right weapon depends on range, map, team synergy, unlocked nodes, and the current patch.
Which weapon is best for Bosses?
Use a weapon that can keep damaging a large moving target at the distance your team can safely hold. Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Laser, Rocket Launcher, Crossbow, and suitable critical branches are common direct-damage candidates, but this page does not claim a universal winner.
Should I always choose the highest-damage branch?
No. A branch that adds Freeze, Fire, Electric, Piercing, range, or control can be better when it completes the squad's synergy or fixes the current failure. Read the live card and compare the behavior change, not only the damage label.
Why do old weapon rankings disagree with version 1.0?
Version 1.0 changed penetration behavior, grouped critical rolls for bursts and multi-projectiles, Boss HP, and several Survivor-specific values. Effective range and new Rank 5 nodes also change how a weapon fits into a team.
Are the exact weapon values on this page tested?
No. The page intentionally avoids exact DPS, cooldown, projectile, range, drop-rate, clear-time, or win-rate claims as hands-on-confirmed facts. Use the current in-game Tooltip and the latest official notes for precise values.
